Forum is an annual summit initiated by the Caserne studio and organized for the second consecutive year in partnership with Hypercodex, and for the first time with L’ÉLOI, bringing together local and international designers. The conferences and workshops provide the creative community with an opportunity for reflection and learning on a variety of topics. This year's theme is HYBRID. Guests include Mac Moss, Andrea Trabucco, Fabiola Mejía, David Rudnick, Marie-France Gaudet, Eveline Lupien, Jean-Philippe Lalonde, and Rama Sow. https://forum.design/fr

Vernissage de l’exposition des livres primés par le concours annuel de l’Alcuin Society, la seule compétition nationale dédiée au design de livres. Les 33 documents mettront en valeur l’excellence de la conception graphique du livre au Canada, dont plusieurs gagnant·es de l’UQAM. Le vernissage se déroulera à 18h au Centre des livres rares et collections spéciales (A-R120, au rez-de-chaussée de la Bibliothèque centrale). Aucune inscription n’est requise pour participer à l’ouverture de l’exposition, qui aura lieu du 21 novembre au 15 décembre 2023.
L’exposition et la table ronde qui la précède sont une collaboration entre Hypercodex, la Société Alcuin, et le Service des bibliothèques.
L’exposition a été conçue par Mélissa Pilon, professeure invitée, et Félix Richer-Beaulieu, étudiant en design graphique. L’identité graphique de l’événement a été développée par Mélissa Pilon, Félix Richer-Beaulieu, Camille Bichet et David Diaz Mendez, étudiant·es en design graphique.

Rejoignez-nous pour une table ronde qui célèbrera le design éditorial québécois à l’ère post-numérique. Animée par Judith Poirier, professeure de l’École de design, la discussion amènera nos 5 invitées à échanger sur leurs expériences et perspectives du paysage de l’édition à l’ère post-numérique.

The day will feature 3 workshops: Chi-Long Trieu (Typography), Vrints Kolsteren (Brand Identity) and Olsson Barbieri (Packaging). Please note that participants must choose one of the workshops, as they will all take place at the same time.

Through collage and random overprinting, participants will create
new visual narratives that will later be brought together through morphing animation, bringing perpetual motion and programmed randomness.

In October 2022, the Experimental Type Festival, an event revolving around experimental typography, took place entirely online. It brought together design specialists such as Andreas Gysin, Gianpaolo Tucci, Daniel Wenzel, Basile Fournier, André Burnie, My Kim Bui, Talia Cotton and many others. We were able to discover an array of projects exploiting the new possibilities offered by programming and virtual reality. Interactivity and animation expand the possibilities for transforming traditional typographic elements into captivating new experiences.
